The Real Covers

Three brat covers exist — here's what each one actually is

Most tool pages show you one green square. The brat visual system is three official covers — one green, two white — plus a design story no generator page tells.

brat
2024·06

The original — lime green, black lowercase "brat" (2024)

Released June 2024: an acid green square with "brat" in slightly stretched, blurry black Arial. Print references document Pantone 3507C; the web splits between hex #8ACE00 and color-picker readings like #89CC04 — we ship both (the brat green hex code guide has the full story). The low resolution is deliberate: it looks low resolution because it is low resolution. On purpose.

brat and it's the same but there's three more songs so it's not
2024·06·10

The deluxe — same, but white (June 10, 2024)

Brat and it's the same but there's three more songs so it's not — 18 tracks including "Guess" with Billie Eilish. The cover swaps green for plain white with black type, making the title's joke literal. Recreate it with the brat deluxe preset: white background, black text, centered.

brat and it's completely different but also still brat
2024·10·11

The remix album — completely different, still brat (October 11, 2024)

Brat and it's completely different but also still brat flipped the cover to a white/silver field with the same blurred black type — 34 tracks of guest-heavy reinvention. If you arrived searching for a "brat remix album cover generator", this is the look: white background, black lowercase, no effects.

Why there's no face on the cover

Charli's early brat manifesto: "the artwork for brat will be obnoxious, arrogant and bold. Some people will hate it." Leaving her face off pushed back on the constant demand for women's bodies and faces on album covers — the type is the picture.

The "smiley face" connection

Charli told Billboard the type was inspired by the end credits of Gregg Araki's 2007 film Smiley Face and 1990s neon rave flyers. So if you came here from a "brat album cover smiley face" search — the cover has no smiley on it; the movie's name is the whole link.

Who designed it, and the 500 greens

Creative director Brent David Freaney (Special Offer, Inc.) with art director Imogene Strauss and Charli herself. Around 500 shades of green were tested before the "offensive, off-trend" final won; Freaney later fumbled the typeface on stage as "the ugly Helvetica". Full type forensics and legal font downloads live on our brat font generator page.

Deluxe White — the inverted cover

Open with a phrase, then choose the brat deluxe preset — white background, black text, centered, no mirror. That's the deluxe and remix-album look.

so julia

Track-title card

One song title, one era color: "so julia" on purple, or "club classics" on green. One or two words read best at cover size.

The long-title stress test

Open with the full deluxe title — there's no word limit; the type auto-wraps and rescales. Ideal for joke releases and playlist covers that must stay readable.

Make a brat album cover in 4 steps

Free and account-free — the whole loop takes under a minute, and everything renders locally in your browser.

1

Type your album title

Artist name, project title, a track, or a joke — there's no word limit. Long titles auto-wrap and rescale to fill the square, just like the deluxe edition's tongue-twister cover.

2

Pick your green (or any era)

The default #8ACE00 is the canonical brat green; the preset bar also holds the deluxe white and nine album-era colors, plus a custom picker for your release's own identity.

3

Choose layout & mirror

Six layouts from dead-center to a rectangular frame, with center or diagonal mirroring for remix-style variations.

4

Download the 600×600 PNG

One tap exports a clean, watermark-free square — sized for Spotify playlist covers (300×300 minimum), SoundCloud, and every social feed. Full distribution specs are covered in the FAQ.

Built for album covers, not generic squares

The controls that matter for cover art: authentic stretched type, era presets, long-title handling, and exports that match real platform specs.

Stretched-Type Engine

The stretched, tightly tracked lowercase rendering that defines the brat cover — weight and spacing tuned to the original. No font downloads needed.

Ten Album-Era Presets

From True Romance purple (2013) to brat deluxe white (2024): every preset is a real color from Charli's discography, one tap each.

Long-Title Auto-Fit

No word limit. Titles wrap and rescale automatically, so a 15-word joke title and a one-word title both fill the canvas proportionately.

Six Layouts & Mirror Modes

Center, left, mirrored, and rectangular-frame variants — the compositional moves fans use to riff on the original without breaking the style.

Specs-Honest Export

600×600px PNG for square covers and 800×200 for banners — real dimensions, no inflated "1200×1200" claims, watermark-free.

Deep Links & Local Rendering

Share or bookmark covers as #generator?t= links that reopen with the full look — text, colors, layout. Nothing you type leaves your browser — no uploads, no account.

Where a brat-style album cover actually fits

Platform by platform, with real size requirements — and honest notes where our 600×600 export is or isn't enough.

The classic use: playlists need just 300×300px, and our 600×600 clears it cleanly. To change a playlist cover, open the playlist in the desktop app → the … menu → Edit details → tap the image. Every "brat playlist" needs one of these.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Brat Album Cover Generator

Real specs, real cover history, and honest limits — the questions this page actually gets.

What is the brat album cover generator?

A free online tool that recreates the brat album cover system: stretched lowercase type, era-accurate colors, and a clean square export. One-word covers live on our brat cover generator; this page is tuned for album covers — full titles, releases, and playlist art.

Is it free?

Completely — unlimited covers, all presets, watermark-free downloads, no account. Everything renders in your browser, and your text never leaves your device.

What size should a brat album cover be?

Square 1:1, always. The release-artwork standard is 3000×3000px, Spotify's distributor minimum is 640×640px, and user playlist covers need just 300×300. Our export is 600×600px — perfect for playlists, socials, and indie platforms, below the 640px bar for full distribution.

Can I release this as real single or album art on Spotify or Apple Music?

You'd need a 640px-plus file — distributors standardize on 3000×3000 — so upscale the PNG or rebuild at high res. The style itself isn't ownable, but the "brat" name and official artwork are Charli XCX / Atlantic Records property: a green square with your own lowercase title is fine; the word "brat" as your release title or merch is not.

What font does the brat album cover use?

A slightly stretched, blurred Arial — deliberately low-resolution. Full forensics plus legal, free font downloads (Arimo, Archivo Narrow) live on our brat font generator page; the tool above renders it with no install.

What color is the brat album cover green?

Two hexes circulate: #8ACE00 (widely cited, our default) and #89CC04 (color-picker readings of the official art); print references document Pantone 3507C. Compare both in the brat green hex code guide.

Is the brat cover text black or white?

Black — dark, blurry lowercase on green. The white-text versions you remember are fan recolors; the official white covers (deluxe and remix album) use black type on white.

What inspired the brat album cover design?

Charli told Billboard it came from 1990s neon rave flyers and the end-title typography of Gregg Araki's 2007 film Smiley Face. Her early manifesto: "the artwork for brat will be obnoxious, arrogant and bold. Some people will hate it."

What is the white brat album?

Two of them: the June 10, 2024 deluxe ("brat and it's the same but there's three more songs so it's not", 18 tracks) and the October 11, 2024 remix album ("brat and it's completely different but also still brat", 34 tracks). Both are white backgrounds with the same black type — recreate either with the brat deluxe preset.

Who designed the brat album cover?

Brent David Freaney's studio Special Offer, Inc., with art director Imogene Strauss and Charli directing. Around 500 green candidates were tested before the final "offensive, off-trend" shade won.

Can I add photos, transparent backgrounds, or export GIFs?

Not yet — this generator is type-on-color by design. White-border sticker exports exist on the brat sticker generator, and animated lyric videos are the brat lyrics generator's territory.

Is this the official brat generator?

No — it's an independent fan tool. The official page (© Charli xcx & Atlantic Records) asks you to screenshot your result; this one gives one-tap PNG downloads plus presets, layouts, and deep links. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the artist.
